Fishrng_esu was created by NOAA Fisheries/National Marine Fisheries Service. Circuit Rider Productions, Inc. reprojected the original fishrng_esu coverage and clipped it to the extent of the Russian River watershed for inclusion in the Russian River Watershed GIS project. Rr_fishrng_esu represents the reprojected and clipped dataset.

Description:

Abstract:

This dataset describes the historic and current distributions of chinook and coho salmon and steelehead and Coastal Cutthroat Trout in the Russian River watershed. The mapping unit used to describe fish distributions is the seventh field polygons from the CALWATER hydrologic sub-unit coverage.

Purpose:

This dataset is intended to be used for salmonid recovery planning, watershed planning and analysis at the 1:24,000 scale.

Supplemental Information:

The metadata for the original fishrng_esu coverage is not available as of October 2002. The metadata document is currently in draft form and is intended for publication in the near future. When published, this metadata file will be titled "Historical and Current Distribution of Chinook and Coho Salmon and Steelehead and Coastal Cutthroat Trout in California". This document is authored by Bryant, Gregory J.(NMFS) and Allen Olsen (Klamath National Forest). Please note that the disctinction between historic and current stopped in 1999.
