The rr_juv GIS database of fyke netting results for juvenile salmonids was created by Circuit Rider Productions, Inc. from the Santa Rosa Subregional Long-Term Watewater Project, Anadromous Fish Migration Study Program reports, 1991-1994 (April 11, 1995) and 1991-1995 (April 1996). Field data collection and reports were prepared by Merritt Smith Consulting, Environmental Science and Communication, 3675 Mt. Diablo Blvd. #120, Lafayette, CA 94549.

Description:
Abstract: Fyke net monitoring of salmonid passage was conducted to evaluate the potential effects of reclaimed water discharged to Santa Rosa Creek by the Santa Rosa Subregional Reclamation System. Three Russian River tributaries, including two target streams and one control (Maacama Creek), were monitored over five migration seasons (1990-1995). Fyke nets fished in upstream and downstream directions. Data collected includes information for steelhead, coho and chinook adults and juveniles. The study period included both normal and unusually dry rainfall seasons.
Purpose:
Provides data on salmonid behavior and physical characteristics during the migration season (October - April). Fyke netting is only effective during low to moderate streamflow periods so data should not be used as annual salmonid populations estimates.
Supplemental Information:
Records for individual juvenile salmonids (rr_juv) were only available for the 1993/94 and 1994/95 monitoring years. Capture date was recorded as occuring during a two week interval rather than an individual date. Data includes salmonids captured moving in the downstream direction only.
