The original California Coast Bathymetry (10 & 50m) layer was developed as a coverage named ccabath by DFG. Rr_ccabath.shp was created by Circuit Rider Productions, Inc. Contour features from the original source data were selected based on their spatial location near the Sonoma and Mendocino county coasts. This metadata file incorporates information that is specific to this layer as well as information that is available in the original metadata file (ccabath.txt). The portions of this metadata file that borrow text from ccabath.txt are indicated in quotation marks.

Description:
"Ccabath is a bathymetric contour line coverage for a region of the
central California coast from approximately Point Arena to Lopez Point,
south of Monterey. The coverage offshore extent is varied, ranging from
under 45 miles to over 120 miles. Isobath resolution is generally 10
meters on the continental shelf and 50 meters beyond."
Purpose:
The intended use for this layer is to aid watershed planning and analysis.

"The Department of Fish and Game (DFG), Technical Services Branch (TSB) GIS Unit received the source data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The data was then processed and reprojected by TSB to Albers conic equal-area using standard Teale Data Center parameters.Please see the attached file "cencalll.doc" for further source data information.

The coverage is not suitable for navigation. The contours are one
possible interpretation based on chosen contouring procedures. The
United States Geological Survey and the California Department of Fish and Game make no warranty as to the suitability of this data for any purpose."

Bathy contours optically scanned from the NOAA 1:250,000
charts for the area: 36.0 : 39.0 N / 121.5 : 125.2 W. Editing of
the scanned data was done by John Chin and Graig McHendrie. Contour intervals are 10 to 200 at 10 meter intervals and 200 to 4000 at 50 meter intervals. The average mean distance between points is 250 meters with an average standard deviation of 184 meters."
